At 5pm on September 19th, the sanctuary's beloved elder wolf Apache Moon passed away. Apache was my favorite resident at Wolf Mountain because he was a gentle spirit. The very first time I met him he was unable to walk. The next time I saw him was after he had been recieving oxygen treatments from the Sanctuary's owner Tonya. That time he was able to walk around and cuddle with us and give us licks. I was so happy for him! And now the news of his death gives me great saddness. He held a special place in my heart for two reasons, the first being that he was the same age as me and our birthdays are only two months apart! The second being that he was the sweetest wolf at the sanctuary and would let you cuddle him in your lap and pet him till your heart was content. He also shared a special friendship with one of the Sanctuary's cats, Seven. Tonya once told me that Seven spent all his time around Apache because he was protecting him. Imagine, a cat as a wolf's protector and friend! It was beautiful.

There will be a memorial service this sunday for him at Wolf Mountain. Please honor his memory with a prayer.

You will be missed Apache Moon!
